Council invite a different community group to host its Australia Day celebration BBQ lunch and Australia Day Awards announcement and presentation ceremony each year.  The District Council of Grant announces its Award winners on Australia Day rather than before the event.  Mayor Richard Sage said "As a Council we feel that it is important to not only celebrate the Award recipients but to honour all of our nominees. Unfortunately we can only choose one winner from each category, which is always a very hard task, but in the Council's and our communities' eyes all of these people and events are equally important."

Council's 2017 event will be held at the PORT MACDONNELL FOOTBALL OVAL on Wednesday 26 January

We hope that you will join us for Australia Day Celebration and Award Presentation from 11.00am

 * BBQ lunch by gold coin contribution from 11.30am

 * Free entertainment by Mount Gambier City Band

 * Free children's activities
